MWR Solicitors announced as headline sponsor of Preston’s biggest schools sport competition

MWR has become the new headline sponsor of Preston City Council’s schools sports competition.

The programme of 40 events which kicked off in October, will see more than 3,000 pupils from primary, secondary and special schools taking part in events across the City.

MWR has supplied the sponsorship through its Funds4Clubs scheme, which supports local community groups and initiatives.

Funds4Clubs was set up in 2010 by MWR Solicitors and is designed to help sporting, social or recreational clubs solve some of their funding problems.

Once a club has registered to the scheme it receives a donation every time a club member or the club member’s family use the services of MWR Solicitors.

Jane Booker, partner at MWR Solicitors, said: “As a firm we are committed to supporting our local community and we are very proud to be involved with Preston Council’s National schools games initiative.

“We were so impressed with last year’s events and are therefore pleased to strengthen our support for a second year, especially with the initiative’s strong links with key events in 2012, such as the Corporate Games and Preston Guild.”

Dean Brandwood, competition manager, Preston City Council said: “The support of local companies such as MWR Solicitors plays an essential part in the development of competitions across Preston.”

MWR Solicitors is the main sponsor of the Preston Sports Awards, headline sponsor of the Lancashire Sports Awards, and were previous sponsors of the Council’s Festival of Sport in 2010. The firm also financially supports a number of local amateur athletes.
