Firm news: MWR Solicitors help kids tune into high-tech radio

MWR Solicitors has pledged support towards Rock FM’s BOOM Radio Scholarship Programme. The firm’s donation has helped kick-start the production of interactive revision podcasts on Maths and English across 100 schools which seek to improve pass rates amongst 2,000 pupils in the region.

The aim of the programme is to provide content for the online radio station, building a comprehensive online resource of podcasts made by young people for young people, and to provide a coordinated approach to employer engagement within the community.

Jane Booker, partner at MWR, said: “MWR is naturally delighted to support the scholarship programme which offers something valuable to school and college students. It is a great initiative to use modern technology that helps younger people improve their education. It’s a real innovative scheme.”

Stuart Heaton, project manager at Rock FM, added: “Our Boom Radio Scholarship Programme will engage with thousands of 14-16 year olds, helping them to learn and revise for their exams.

“We are asking local businesses to get involved with this unique project, which will result in a better qualified pool of young people leaving school and therefore a stronger potential workforce for Lancashire businesses to choose from.

“We have had an excellent response from local businesses and are delighted that MWR is on board.”
