MWR Solicitors invest in British Gold Medalist
Another champion athlete is set to benefit from a pledge from Preston city law firm, MWR Solicitors, to financially support flourishing local stars.
Kathryn Grieves, a Great Britain Gold Medalist at Canoe Polo has been awarded an initial £400 from MWR Solicitors which will go towards the purchase of equipment and competition fees.
Kathryn is the latest sports star to benefit from MWR’s community investment programme joining amateur runners Gema Adams and Rob Affleck who have recently been awarded funding for this year’s London Marathon and Karate champion Ferrari Faquiri, who is also being supported through the funding.
In 2010, MWR launched its Funds4Clubs scheme which makes a donation to a sporting, social or recreational clubs if one of their members uses MWR’s services. Clubs that benefit from Funds4Clubs is continuing to grow.
Kathryn, who works a physical activity development officer at Preston City Council, is preparing for the European Championships in September which will be held in Madrid, she said: “I really appreciate the financial support offered by MWR Solicitors as I haven’t benefitted from any sponsorship before and having the correct equipment for my chosen sport is vital to my success.
“My aim is to become one of the top five ranked players in the world and I hope to do those who support me proud by achieving this status very soon.”
Kathryn, born in Liverpool has helped lead the Liverpool Friends of Allanby Canoe Club to victory in the National league and a Gold medal for Great Britain Senior Ladies team in the World Championships.
