CHRISTMAS will mark the end of an era at Preston law firm MWR Solicitors as senior cashier Maureen Spencer switches off her calculator after 19 years loyal service.
Maureen started work for law firm Smith, Fazackerly and Thompson in April 1986 which, after several mergers, became the MWR we know today based on the city’s Cannon Street.
Maureen will retire just in time for the birth of her second grandchild in January.
Partner Annette Thompson said: “We are very sad to lose Maureen who has been a great colleague and friend to everyone at MWR.
“It is rare these days for someone to devote so much of their career to one firm and her expertise and personality has made her an invaluable member of the team.
“We hope Maureen will now have more time to devote to her hobbies of cooking and fitness – and perhaps even book some more Spanish lessons. We all hope she’ll be back to see us soon.”
MWR solicitors has four partners and over 50 employees. Its legal services include wills and probate, conveyancing, employment law, occupational diseases, road traffic accidents and accidents at work.
