A TOP Preston firm of solicitors believe they can help their clients raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity through a unique charity wills campaign.
MWR Solicitors, which has four partners and 59 members at offices in Cannon Street, has launched a charity wills campaign to help clients make charitable donations through their will, otherwise known as ‘in memoriam’ gifts or a legacy.
The wills and probate department at MWR Solicitors has kick-started the campaign by donating half of its will writing fee to a client’s charity of choice, a promotion which the firm will run for the rest of 2005.
Jackie Yates, solicitor at MWR, said: “Leaving an in memoriam gift in a will can be an individual’s gift to the people and causes important in their life. They are exempt gifts so do not incur inheritance tax, making them very popular with those people whose property values have grown in recent years.
“They are a popular tax efficient method of leaving a legacy and making the world a better place.
“We are hoping that our wills campaign will encourage clients to pledge in memoriam gifts to charities close to them and in turn help the firm pledge hundreds of thousands of pounds to various worthy causes.”
MWR Solicitors is one of Preston’s oldest law firms. Its legal services include wills and probate, conveyancing, employment law, occupational diseases, road traffic accidents and accidents at work.
