Fulwood take under-13 title

FULWOOD and Broughton beat Eccleston by 1 wicket to win the under-13 Palace Shield junior competition final, sponsored by MWR Solicitors.
The final, held at Penwortham, saw Eccleston hit 110-8 in their 30 overs with Tom Foster top scoring with 32. Fulwood bowler Charlie Rossiter took 3-25 to restrict the Eccleston batsmen.
In reply, Fulwood recovered from 69-8 thanks to a spirited partnership of 26 between Parkinson and Murphy. The match went down to the wire with a four being scored off the last ball to give Fulwood a close victory. Matt Smith top scored with 32 giving him man of the match.
The MWR Solicitors under-11 Palace Shield junior competition final between Penwortham and Lytham has been rescheduled to September 10 at Penwortham’s Middleforth ground.
