BRITISH BMX champion Shaun Calvert is hoping to steer his way to European glory this summer – with backing from Lancashire law firm MWR.
National champion Shaun, from Preston, is hoping to reclaim the title he was won twice before at the European Championships in Cheddar, Somerset this June.
Father-of-one Shaun has previously held the European, British and World titles simultaneously in the 40-plus category and is in training to do the treble again this year.
Shaun, whose wife Sarah works at MWR’s Cannon Street offices, said: “It is absolutely fantastic that MWR is sponsoring me again and I hope to achieve all I can this season with local funding and support.”
Preston law firm MWR Solicitors is sponsoring Shaun again to fund his race fees as he chases his dream once again.
MWR partner Annette Thompson, said: “We wish Shaun the very best of luck as he embarks on yet another successful phase in his career.
“He is a great ambassador for sport in the city and we are delighted to support him once more.”
Shaun will soon be training at Preston’s new race track due to open this year at London Road. The track, which will be the home of the Preston Piranhas BMX Club, of which Shaun is the founder and chairman, is being built as part of a council regeneration programme.
Shaun was national BMX champion in 2005. In 2004 he held the World, European and British title and in 2003 the European, National and British crown.
He is also sponsored by Redline bicycles, Buff, Airwalk, Edwardes, MX1 and Padded Cell.
