Hundreds of sports fanatics support Kricket for Kenya
14 March 2007

HUNDREDS of people passed through the doors of Fulwood Leisure Centre to help support the MWR Solicitors’ Kricket 4 Kenya Charity Fun Day.

A host of sponsored sports related events and competitions took place throughout the day including swimming, spinning, rowing and kayaking.

There was also a raffle for a selection of prizes including a Preston North End football shirt signed by the entire team. People of all ages took part in the charity activities, raising a total of £250 for the campaign. Altaf Patel, a partner at MWR, even completed two grueling back to back spinning classes in aid of the appeal.

Katie Cartwright, Charlotte Young and Neil Walmsley collected prizes that including JJB vouchers and goody bags for each winning the sponsored spinning competitions.

Jayne Raven, marketing manager at MWR and the Kricket 4 Kenya campaign manager, said:

“We were thrilled with the support that the appeal received throughout the day. Many people bought raffle tickets and took part in the sponsored activities.

“We also received a number of donations of sports kit from Fulwood Leisure Centre, which had set up a special drop of point at its reception.

“The day proved to be a great success and the firm hopes to arrange another similar event in the summer.”

Kricket 4 Kenya was launched in summer 2006 by MWR and is appealing to individuals, businesses and schools to donate any unused sports equipment and lost property for the collection.
