PRESTON legal executive Sharon Rigby has started 2009 in style by qualifying as a solicitor following eight years of study.
The achievement caps a marvellous 12-months for Sharon, who also gave birth to baby daughter Gracie just two and half weeks before her final exams commenced!
Sharon, who works at MWR Solicitors, Cannon Street, decided on a career in law almost a decade ago while working as a solicitors’ personal assistant in Preston, and was also inspired by her friend who had just become a solicitor.
She has now been admitted as a solicitor herself after first qualifying as a Legal Executive and then carrying out a further four years of study and examination alongside full time employment.
Sharon, who is originally from Leyland, but now lives in Preston, said: "I did four years of study to become a legal executive and a further four to qualify as a solicitor. It’s taken a lot of hard work and determination but it’s been worth the effort and I’m over the moon."
Sharon, a former student at Balshaw’s Grammar School and Runshaw College, will continue to work for MWR Solicitors, specialising in personal injury and industrial disease claims.
Annette Thompson, partner with MWR Solicitors, said: "Sharon has worked extremely hard over the last few years and has impressed us all with her drive and determination to qualify as a solicitor. Our congratulations go to Sharon who will continue to be a great asset to our law firm."
