Retiree Anne’s fond farewell to Preston law firm
May 17 2009

ONE of the longest serving members of Preston-based MWR Solicitors is retiring after almost 24 years with the firm.

Anne Pickles, 59, administration manager for the firm, will say farewell to her colleagues at the Cannon Street-based practice when she retires this week.

Anne joined the firm in 1985 when it was known as Macdonalds, and was based in Blackpool Road, Ashton. Several years later it merged with Whittle Robinson solicitors and later became Meloy Whittle Robinson.

Mother of two Anne, of Preston, made the move to the firm’s Cannon Street site when the Ashton office closed in 1998. The firm is now known simply as MWR Solicitors and offers a range of legal services including employment law, personal injury, industrial accidents, wills and probate, and conveyancing.

Anne, who also has two grandchildren, said: "I’ve seen a lot of changes at the firm in the last 24 years and have made many friends and I’m going to miss the camaraderie and the excellent company of all our employees. But I’ve had some fantastic times here and leave with some great memories for which I am very grateful."

Jane Booker, partner at MWR Solicitors, said: "Anne has been an extremely loyal and hardworking member of the MWR team, not to mention an excellent personality around the office. She will be missed by all at the firm and we wish her all the best in her retirement."

Anne is planning to kick-off her retirement with a two-week trip to the Outer Hebrides with her husband Phil. Following that she intends to continue her regular swimming and going to the gym, as well as doing more in the garden and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
